What infrastructure is needed to help to deliver Devon’s low carbon transport solution?
Devon County Council has declared a climate emergency. They have committed to facilitating the reduction of Devon’s carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050 at the latest. In order to achieve this, they need to accelerate the transition to a sustainable transport network.
In this online discussion, we will hear from a fantastic panel about the solutions needed to create a sustainable, low carbon transport system in Devon and the vital part that public EV charging will play within the overall infrastructure.
In the webinar, we’ll discuss the barriers to people making sustainable transport choices, including the lack of public charging facilities for electric vehicle owners in a county that sees more sales of electric vehicles than anywhere else in the UK, but more an 30% of people don’t have access to charging at home.
We will be looking at how the Rapid Charging Devon project - being delivered in partnership with Wenea, Devon County Council and Co-Cars among other organisations - fits into the Devon Carbon Plan, and the Adaptation Plan for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and how it will play a crucial part in helping the county get to net-zero.
Wenea has already installed 14 rapid chargers as part of the project and is raising finance via a bond offer on Ethex to help them install at least another 86. In the webinar, we will look at how vital this finance is for the overall future of Devon's green transport infrastructure.
We will also look at the partnership with Co-Cars, offering people who can’t afford or don’t want to buy an EV the chance to affordably rent one as part of the shared car membership, taking even more cars off the roads and creating cleaner air and less congestion.
We also invite panellists’ thoughts on the future of sustainable transport solutions in Devon and invite questions from the audience. It is a really interesting event for anyone interested in Devon’s net-zero future.
