Community Energy Together Cuppa Club (17 Aug 2023)

Join Ethex for a very special Cuppa Club webinar where we chat with representatives of Community Energy Together, a pioneering group of local community energy organisations purchasing seven operational solar farms in England and Wales to bring them into community ownership.

The groups are running five community share offers to part-fund the purchase. Four of the share offers are now live and we will be joined by representatives from each group to hear more about what the share offers will help them achieve.

The Community Energy Together portfolio is a unique opportunity to invest in one or more of these community-owned renewable energy assets. By bringing the solar farms into community ownership, these organisations are protecting their future and ensuring that all excess revenue is directed back into the communities, funding new renewable and energy efficiency projects.

The solar farms will collectively save an estimated 317,000 tonnes of CO2 over their lifetimes, supply electricity equivalent to the demand of 12,750 homes and increase the capacity of community-owned solar energy in England and Wales by about 20%.

The panel will give an overview of how Community Energy Together was formed, the benefits of this unique collaboration, and why community-owned clean energy is more vital than ever. We will hear from each community energy group on their future plans and discuss how people can invest to support them via their share offers. The audience will have the opportunity to put their questions to the panel.
